22 of November so it isn't even summer yet but we have already hit the 40 degrees and over and the feirce winds and what Australia's summers are well known for. Fires. I live in the Blue Mountains, part of the great dividing range that goes across the 3 eastern states of Australia for those reading this that don't know that. At the moment we have 10 or more spearate fires burning in the bush between my place and about an hours drive away. Most are under control thank god. But there are atleast 4 that are not under control. The only good thing is they are the furthest away, the bad thing is they are all in a position that if they go really really bad and can't be stopped where they are now, they can all spread into a valley which is really long, and goes from one side of the mountains to the other, going straight past the back of my house. The other bad thing is that the wind is blowing North, North East which is the direction I live and if it spreads into the valley we only have about a day before its on top of us.

I am hoping the fact that as off yet the bush fire bargade around the corner at my house hasn't yet been sent out is too be taken as a good sign. *Fingers Crossed*

I also hope that theres not a fire warning when I'm at school during the week. That would suck, I do not trust my school in a fire at all. Not because no one would know what their doing, far from it, we get it drilled into our heads from a young age. But from the fact that the school I go to is surrounded by bush, and for a fire drill we go into our quadrangle. No where near trees, which is good, but our main building which surrounds the quadrangle is made from sandstone and sandstone under intense heat explodes. And our building fire isn't much better either. If theres a building fire we go to our oval, which is the furthest part of the school away from the driveway into our school and the closest to the bush so if the fire leaped from the building to the bush, that wouldn't be good either because the oval is 3 sides surrounded by bush, other side surrounded by the building, which offcourse would be on fire. hmmm makes you wonder sometimes what people are thinking.
